I-1401 penalizes antique owners

We are seeing a large number of ads urging you to vote for Initiative 1401 to save the animals. Almost everyone wants to save the animals on the endangered species list. However, I-1401 will not do this, and it is so poorly written it will impose a huge burden on Washington residents and cause many to lose valuable assets that have been in their family for many years.

The I-1401 TV ads only give one-half of the story. Go online and read the bill in its entirety, and be an informed voter. There is already a federal law to solve this problem. I-1401 will simply penalize Washington residents while failing to accomplish its purported objective.

If you have antique items or jewelry that has 15 percent or more of animal parts (i.e. ivory, etc.), you must have documentation that it is at least 100 years old or you cannot sell it or give it away. Read the complete text then decide. Don’t be duped by misleading ads or partial truths. Be an informed voter.
