Fairchild lanes confuse drivers

It happened to me again. For the third time, a person was not aware of the lane they were in. Driving west on Highway 2 gives you three options when you get to Fairchild Air Force Base. Two lanes are clearly marked, directing drivers to turn left and go into the base. The other option is to continue west.

Since we live in Davenport, this is always the option that I take. The first time that a car that had been in the left turn lane went straight, I thought you can have the lead, there is only room for one car in the lane ahead. I always pay careful attention to cars beside me at this intersection now. I presume I am not the only person that has experienced this. Perhaps drawing attention to it may keep another driver safe.
