Prep volleyball: Colfax powers past Reardan

Carmen Gfeller powered for 23 kills, nine aces and seven blocks Wednesday as two-time defending State 2B volleyball champion Colfax defeated visiting Reardan 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 25-12 in 2B regional play.

Morgan Lorde added 22 digs, and Ashtyn Aune and Catelyn Schold had 15 assists apiece for the Bulldogs, who will meet Wilbur-Creston at 11:45 a.m. Saturday in a winner-to-state match when the tournament shifts to Asotin.

Kamille Langford had 14 kills, 10 digs and two blocks for Reardan, which will play Dayton at 10 a.m. in a loser-out match.

W-C advanced with a 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-13 win over Dayton as Carlee Maioho had 33 assists and six aces, Jessi Reed 20 kills and Alicia Johnson 15 digs.

In tourney play at Pasco, Katie Casazza finished with 17 kills and 26 digs while leading host Tri-Cities Prep to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-22 victory over Lind-Ritzville/Sprague.

Danika Whitsett added 24 assists and Mary Steiner 31 digs for the Jaguars.

T-C Prep will play a winner-to-state match at 11:45 against Wednesday’s winner between DeSales and Northwest Christian. LRS will play the DeSales-NWC loser in a loser-out at 10.

District 9 1B

Jacey Johnson had 14 kills and Maddy Shrope added 29 assists as host Oakesdale swept Colton 25-18, 25-16, 25-22 to advance to the tournament title game.

Corynn Anderson added 15 digs for the Nighthawks, who will meet Pomeroy at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Colfax for the No. 1 seed to state.

Also Saturday, Colton will play Touchet at 10 a.m. and St. John-Endicott will meet Garfield-Palouse at 11:30 in loser-out matches.

Colton reached the game against Oakesdale by edging SJE 3-2. No details were reported.

Pomeroy reached the title match with a 23-25, 25-12, 25-12, 25-9 win over visiting Gar-Pal as Ally Bott had 17 kills, Sydney Smith 20 assists and Kacey Halbert 17 digs.

Gar-Pal topped Touchet 25-22, 18-25, 25-16, 25-17 to advance to the Pomeroy match.
