Women’s soccer: No. 15 Santa Clara edges Gonzaga 3-2

Jenna Holtz scored in double-overtime to lift No. 15 Santa Clara (13-5-2, 6-1-2) past Gonzaga 3-2 in a West Coast Conference regular-season finale Saturday at Luger Field in Spokane.

Heather Johnson and Karley Baggerly scored goals for the Bulldogs.

Gonzaga’s season is over. The Bulldogs finished 2-12-5 overall and 1-7-1 in the WCC.

Pioneers scored four second-half goals, top Pirates

Anna Thorndike and Megan Ratfield scored two goals apiece in the second half and Lewis & Clark (11-7-1, 7-7-1) erased an early 2-0 deficit and beat Whitworth 4-2 in a Northwest Conference match in Spokane.

Tiara Pajimola and Kelly Wucherer scored in the first half for the Pirates (6-11-3, 4-9-3).

The match was the last of the season for Whitworth.

Overland’s late goal secures win for CCS

Stephanie Overland’s goal in the 92nd minute gave Community Colleges of Spokane a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Everett in the quarterfinals of the Northwest Athletic Conference Championships at Spokane Falls Community Colleges.

The Trojans (16-4-1) led 2-1 after Lauren Allison’s 61st-minute goal, but the Sasquatch’s Alysha Overland knotted the match at 2 in the 63rd minute before Stephanie Overland’s match-winner.

CCS (14-2-1) will play Shoreline in the semifinals next Saturday at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila, Washington. Shoreline beat Lane in the quarterfinals.

Cardinals eliminated after 1-0 loss to Peninsula

North Idaho was eliminated from the NWAC Championships after a 1-0 overtime-loss to Peninsula (20-1) in Port Angeles, Washington.

Ellie Small scored the match-winner in the 105th minute. The Cardinals finished its season with a 11-6-2 record.
