College soccer roundup: Idaho women lose in Big Sky women’s soccer championship match

Tied 1-1 after regulation, Northern Colorado eventually won a shootout 3-0 over Idaho to win the Big Sky women’s soccer tournament on Sunday in Moscow, Idaho, and advance to the NCAA tournament.

Elexis Schlossarek, with Oliva Baggerly and Kayla Watanabe assisting, scored on a diving header at 11:42 to give the Vandals a 1-0 lead. Northern Colorado (13-7-2 overall) got even on Mariel Gutierrez’s goal at 56:48.

The Vandals (14-4-3) set program records during the season for goals, assists, points and shutouts.

Gonzaga men lose: Saint Mary’s (7-9-1, 4-2-0 WCC) made Jake Stenberg’s goal in the second minute stand up in a 1-0 victory over Gonzaga (6-10-1, 1-5-0) in Spokane. Chris Lowrimore made nine saves for Gonzaga, which has one regular-season match remaining on Saturday at Pacific.
