N.L., A.L. MVP finalists announced

Washington slugger Bryce Harper is one of three finalists for the N.L. MVP award who played for teams that had disappointing seasons.

Harper is joined by Arizona’s Paul Goldschmidt and Cincinnati’s Joey Votto, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America announced Tuesday.

Lorenzo Cain of Kansas City, Josh Donaldson of Toronto and L.A’s Mike Trout are the American League finalists for MVP.

Winners will be announced next week on MLB Network, beginning with the Rookie of the Year awards on Monday. Manager of the Year will be revealed Tuesday, Cy Young Award winners Wednesday and MVPs on Thursday.
