Should be thankful for NRA

Regarding the Nov. 3 letter, “NRA modern fascists”: Dorothy Carter’s comparison makes no sense whatsoever. In the 1930s, the Nazi Party disarmed the German citizens by confiscating their guns, and then proceeded to kill citizens they deemed undesirable.

Conversely, the National Rifle Association promotes an armed citizenry and strives toward protecting our Second Amendment. I sure don’t see any remote association between the two organizations.

Carter reveals her mindset with her display of reverence for Leonard Pitts Jr., a whiny, hypocritical, racist columnist for the Miami Herald. Carter also jabs at Curtis Stone, a frequent letter contributor to this paper. I do not know Stone, though I do enjoy his thoughtful, informative, patriotic writings.

The NRA is a good organization that protects our rights and freedoms as Americans. We should all be thankful for their persistent efforts.
