Obituary: Hamad, Edwin F.

Age 84

HAMAD, Edwin F. Born June 6, 1931, passed away November 10, 2015 Ed went to the Lord peacefully November 10, 2015 after fighting the good fight with lung disease for five years.

He was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended Xavier High School and University.

An avid athlete and sports fan for life, he loved the Reds baseball team most of all but maintained an interest in all competitive activities.

Family was the most important thing to him.

He geared his life to the care and interest in each and every member.

In 1951, Ed joined the Air Force and was introduced to the West Coast when he was stationed at Fort Wright, on the way to Korea.

There he met the love of his life, Jo Ann St. George.

He spent a year in Korea, came back to Spokane and in August of 1955 they were married.

They were blessed with three boys and after a brief stint in Cincinnati, moved back to Spokane where they stayed for good.

Ed was preceded in death by his second son, Barry, who passed away in 1993.

He is survived by his wife Jo Ann; son Greg and Leslye Hamad; son David and Kelly Hamad and five grandchildren; Greg and Leslye’s children: Jordan (New York), Nicholas (married to Ashley Lightfoot (Spokane) and Meagan (Spokane); David and Kelly’s daughters: Emily (Spokane) and Karly (Spokane, currently attending Gonzaga University).

Ed and Jo Ann have also been close to Jo Ann’s sister Florabell Duehne and her husband Dick.

Dick and Ed served together in Korea and have been life-long friends in addition to marrying sisters.

The family was lucky to have had Ed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

He gave us a lifetime of support and a legacy to live up to.

Living with honor, protecting our reputation, and treating others the way you would like to be treated was always first and foremost in his teachings.

He will truly be missed and always loved and remembered.

Rest in peace Dad, we love you.
