Small earthquake hits Grays Harbor

Daily World, Aberdeen, Wash.

A 2.5-magnitude earthquake struck Grays Harbor early Friday morning, but the tremor probably wasn’t enough to alarm Hoquiam residents.

The quake took place at 3:36 a.m., 21 miles below the surface of Grays Harbor and four miles west of Hoquiam. Director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, John Vidale, said it is unlikely residents would have realized anything happened.

“There’s only a slight chance anyone would have felt this one,” he said.

The Hoquiam Police station reported there were no calls reporting the earthquake.
