Obituary: Shawen, Marilee
Age 72
She was born to Leslie and Opal Jones on November 3, 1943 in Colfax, Washington.
She married Art Shawen in June of 1963 in Pullman, WA.
She and Art were married for 52 wonderful years.
She was a loving wife, mother of two and grandmother of six.
She was a resident of Spokane for the past 45 years.
She enjoyed interacting with her family and their friends.
She became a “second mom” to many of the friends of her kids and grandkids.
She would often involve them in the kitchen while making cookies, pies, candies and cakes.
Truly Marilee exemplified Proverbs 31:28, where it says, “Her children [and grandchildren] will rise up and call her blessed.”
She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband Art, two brothers Alfred Jones and David Jones, two sons Aaron (Jean) Shawen and Joel (Lisa) Shawen and six grandchildren: Rachael Shawen, Hannah (Christian) Meyer, Elijah Shawen, Olivia Shawen, Sophia Shawen and Caleb Shawen.
Since Marilee loved hymns, a memorial fund has been set up to purchase hymn books.
