Editorial on vets appreciated

Thank you for your Nov. 11 editorial, “Veterans deserve our gratitude.” As a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran, it means much since we were not treated well when we returned to the U.S. Still, I have to say the greatest generation was that which served in World War II and Korea because a great majority did their duty and suffered so that we all could be free.

In the Vietnam War, there were true heroes, but there were many in the military and our government who did not cherish, or know, how the freedoms we have today were earned, and did not realize what it would take to win a war.
