Veterans earned the title

I take exception to your use of the term “veteran” to describe people who have been thrown out of service (“Rule won’t shelter all homeless veterans,” Nov. 11).

Simply donning a uniform does not make you a veteran. That honorarium is reserved for those who have done their duty to the best of their ability and therefore have been Honorably Discharged at the end of their service.

It is an insult to these men and women to be lumped together with those who have been “Other Than Honorably Discharged.” Assisting the homeless is admirable, but don’t call them veterans when they haven’t earned the title.
