Lauren Jackson’s recovery from knee surgery hits setback

MELBOURNE, Australia – Three-time WNBA Most Valuable Player Lauren Jackson has hit a setback in her goal to play for Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics and may consider retirement.

Jackson, 34, who just sat out a third straight WNBA season with the Seattle Storm after knee surgery, will be off the court until at least January after her knee reacted badly to an increased training workload.

Jackson says she’ll continue her rehabilitation and the goal of a fifth Olympics before deciding in February whether she’ll play in Rio de Janeiro or retire.

She said: “At the moment it’s not going my way but I’ve got to keep going and see where it takes me. I have to stay positive and keep persisting with it and hopefully it works out and if it doesn’t I know I’ve done my best.”
