Show compassion to Syrian refugees
As I listened to the news and read The Spokesman-Review this past week or so, I see where some of our elected officials and presidential candidates are lamenting the current administration’s plan to let some of the refugees resulting from the Syrian debacle into the United States. Much doom and gloom has been predicted while, at the same time, not much compassion is being shown.
This morning, Nov. 19, I read where a little 11-year-old girl, Natalie Achenbach, has been raising chickens and selling their eggs and donating her profits to benefit the Syrian refugees. I see a huge disconnect between what Natalie is doing and what our elected officials are doing.
When Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers says we must “rise to the challenge” and find “the courage and the resolve,” do you think she had Natalie’s example in mind, or is she just concerned about the party line?
I think Cathy should be impeached and Natalie sworn in as our congressional representative. I am more in tune with Natalie’s show of compassion than of Cathy’s. What would Jesus do?
