Women’s basketball: Central Washington rolls past Whitworth

ELLENSBURG – Guard Jasmin Edwards scored 22 points, hitting 8 of 14 from the field and 5 of 5 from the free-throw line, as host Central Washington (4-1) defeated Whitworth 71-47 in nonconference women’s basketball Wednesday.

The Pirates (1-2) committed 23 turnovers and shot 16 for 43 (37.2 percent) from the floor. Whitworth’s starters shot 10 of 26 from the field.

Grace Douglas came off the bench to lead the Pirates with 10 points. No Pirates player had more than four rebounds.
