Free Horse and Carriage Rides Spokane: Friday through Dec. 24, 3-8 p.m. Fridays, noon-5 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays, and noon-3 p.m. Dec. 24, Spokane Falls Boulevard across from the Rotary Fountain in Riverfront Park. Coeur d’Alene: Saturday through Dec. 19, 1-5 p.m. Saturdays, corner of First Street and Sherman Avenue. Enjoy a ride through the heart of Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. (509) 344-2208. Admission: FREE

2. Winter in June 7:30 p.m. Friday, The Big Dipper, 171 S. Washington St. Debut show for this new Spokane-based rock trio, featuring Paul Taylor (bass), Jay Orth (drums), and Jordan Collins (guitar/voicals). 3. Christmas Parade and Lighting Ceremony 5 p.m. Friday, downtown Coeur d’Alene. Marching bands, floats, music and fun. Pick up a candle at the Coeur d’Alene Resort and gather on the front lawn for carols. Join the countdown, and view a fireworks display. At the end of the show, more than 1.5 million lights come on. 5. Spokane Winter Glow Spectacular 2015 Friday through Jan. 1, nightly beginning at 5 p.m., Riverfront Park, 507 N. Howard St. “All Dressed Up in Lights”: The park will have more than 50 lighted displays. Featuring an Animal Light Zoo and wagon and carriage rides available. 6. (SOLD OUT) Stage to Screen: “Hamlet” 2 p.m. Sunday, the Bing Crosby Thater, 901 W. Sprague Ave. Shakespeare’s great tragedy comes alive with Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role. As a country arms itself for war, a family tears itself apart. Forced to avenge his father’s death but paralyzed by the task ahead, Hamlet rages against the impossibility of his predicament, threatening both his sanity and the security of the state. 7. “Thespians’ Choice” 7 p.m. Thursday and Dec. 4, Lewis and Clark High School, 521 W. Fourth Ave. Lewis and Clark High School Tiger Drama Department presents four student-directed short plays, two of which were written by local playwrights. 9. Christmas Tree Elegance 2015 Tuesday through Dec. 13, the Davenport Hotel, 10 S. Post St., and River Park Square, 808 W. Main Ave. View 18 decorated and themed Christmas trees. Twelve are on display of the mezzanine level of the Davenport, the others on the skywalk level of the mall. Buy $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win the trees – and all the goodies that come with. The drawing for trees at the Davenport will be Dec. 12 at 9:30 p.m.; drawing for trees at River Park Square will be Dec. 13 at 5 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Spokane Symphony. (509) 458-8733. 10. Indies First 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Auntie’s Bookstore, 402 W. Main Ave. During Small Business Saturday, local authors will be at Auntie’s all day to sign books, recommend titles and visit with fans. The lineup features Kris Dinnison, S.M.
