Big Sky roundup: Coeur d’Alene’s Chad Chalich leads Montana to win

Chad Chalich overcame a slow start to pass for 265 yards and three touchdowns, leading Montana to a 27-13 win over UC Davis on Saturday in Davis, California.

Chalich (Coeur d’Alene HS) completed 29 of 49 passes with Chase Naccarato (Mt. Spokane HS) catching 13 for 84 yards, both career highs. Chalich started 4 of 10 for 14 yards before connecting on nine straight.

Chalich, who also led the team in rushing with 64 yards on 17 attempts, had touchdown passes of 20 yards to Ben Roberts and 42 yards to Jamaal Jones in the first half.

Northern Arizona 49, Montana State 41: Case Cookus threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns and the Lumberjacks withstood a late flurry to beat the Bobcats in Flagstaff, Arizona.

North Dakota 19, Portland State 17: Reid Taubenheim kicked four field goals and North Dakota’s defense shut down the Vikings’ running game in a win in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Cal Poly 58, Idaho State 26: Chris Brown threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Mustangs to a win over the Bengals in San Luis Obispo, California.

Northern Colorado 27, Sacramento State 20: Trevor Douglass returned a Sacramento State fumble 58 yards for the winning touchdown with 4:12 left in the game, earning the Bears a victory over the Hornets in Sacramento, California.
