Age 84

MURPHY, Jerry B.

(USAF) (Age 84) Born October 14, 1930 in Missoula, MT., passed away in his home September 28, 2015 in Spokane, WA losing a battle to cancer.

He is now with his loving Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Marge Murphy; parents Og and Bess; sons Bryan Valley and James Owens.

He is survived by his sister Molly Murphy Lundberg of Spokane, WA; sister-in-law Amy Rost of Scottsdale, AZ; sons Bruce (Sophia) Valley of Holly Springs, NC; Mike (Dawn) Murphy of Helena, MT; daughter Debby (Randy) Cartwright of Colville, WA; grandkids Shawna, Brett, Andrea, Rafael, Geraldo, Cody, Michael, Amber, Ryan, Melissa, Lindsey, Kyle and 10 great-grandchildren.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the Army Reserve after twenty years.

Jerry and Marge lived in Butte, MT while raising their family.

He worked as an electrician at Stauffer Chemical.

He enjoyed playing sports but loved coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball.

They moved to Spokane in 1993.

He was a member of Moran United Methodist Church and Southeast Lions Club.

Jerry held all positions in the club; he was Lion of the Year in 1998 and 2006.

Jerry was very active with the Lions, always willing to help others when needed.

He walked every morning with a group of friends and their dogs around Lincoln Park.

He was a huge sports fan, Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics and Gonzaga were a few of his favorites!

He was very gentle and loved by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held for Jerry on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 1:00pm at Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave., Spokane, WA 99223.
