Obituary: Pike, Doris Ann

Age 86

PIKE, Doris Ann Doris Ann Pike entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 26th, 2015.

Doris was born March 23rd, 1929 in Ingalls, Kansas, the fifth of six children born to Jacob and Theo Thiessen.

Doris’ family, having survived difficult circumstances during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl, moved to central California and started over with another small farm.

She was involved in band and cheerleading at Hilmar High School and graduated in 1947.

In 1946 Doris met Francis Pike and the two of them were married on June 14th, 1947, in Turlock, California.

Doris was involved in managing Pike’s Properties for many years and also sold real estate for 20 years.

Doris had the gift of hospitality and her home was always open to family, friends and even strangers who needed assistance or a place to stay.

The couple had nine children, two of whom died in infancy.

Doris is survived by her seven children; Deborah (Greg) McCowan of Spokane, Rebecca (Doug) Iverson of Spokane, Roger (Jan) Pike of Mead, Ruth (Steve) Erb of Colbert, Rod (Andrea) Pike of Colbert, Ron (Melody) Pike of Covina, California, and Dan (Nicki) Pike of Concord, California.

She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Northview Bible Church on Thursday, October 8th, at 3:00 PM.

The family has asked that donations be made to the Union Gospel Mission, Spokane, Washington.
