Football roundup: Spirit White leads Cusick past Selkirk

Tyson Shanholtzer connected with Spirit White on a 29-yard touchdown connection in the fourth quarter and Cusick came from behind to beat the visiting Selkirk Rangers 25-20.

White threw four touchdown passes altogether, three of which went to White.

After falling behind 13-6 at halftime, Selkirk (5-1, 1-1) scored 14 unanswered points to take a 20-13 lead into the fourth, but White’s two touchdown receptions in the fourth gave Cusick (4-2, 2-0) the win.

Inland Empire 4A

Sandpoint 48, Lakeland 14: Mike Plaster ran for 76 yards and three touchdowns and Kyle Perry added 124 rushing yards and a score as the Bulldogs (4-3, 1-0) topped the visiting Hawks (0-7, 0-1).

Lakeland scored 28 first-quarter points to take command. The Hawks were outrushed 289-161.

Great Northern

Clarkston 47, Pullman 27: Blake Rimmelspacher ran for a score and returned an interception 30 yards for another touchdown to lead the Bantams (5-1, 1-0) past the host Greyhounds (4-2, 0-2).

Clarkston’s Kyle Jones added two rushing touchdowns and A.J. Davis connected with Trevor Allen for a pair of passing touchdowns.

Northeast A

Lakeside 55, Deer Park 9: Cameron Gay completed 19 of 33 passes for 334 yards and five touchdowns as the Eagles (5-1, 4-0) overwhelmed the Stags (3-3, 3-1) in Nine Mile Falls. Mick Annanie scored twice on the ground and Chase Kuhnert added two touchdowns – one receiving and one rushing.

Newport 34, Medical Lake 33: Jesse Reyes two-point conversion on the winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter sent the Grizzlies (3-3, 1-3) past the visiting Cardinals (0-6, 0-4). Phillip Murray had four rushing touchdowns for Medical Lake.

Riverside 32, Chewelah 20: The Rams (1-5, 1-3) held the Cougars (1-5, 0-4) to 17 yards of total offense in a win in Riverside. Two of the three Chewelah touchdowns came on defense. John Bogetti led Riverside with two passing touchdowns and a rushing score.

Intermountain

Timberlake 56, Priest River 0: Ethan Bruce ran for 145 yards and two scores and Caleb Munson added 95 rushing yards and a pair of scores as the Tigers (4-2, 1-0) dumped the Spartans (1-5, 0-1) at Spirit Lake. Timberlake’s Will McLemore and Micheal Zorzi each returned interceptions for touchdowns.

Northeast 2B

Reardan 32, Springdale 0: James Barris ran for 127 yards on 11 carries and scored four touchdowns to guide the Indians (3-2, 3-2) past the visiting Chargers (0-6, 0-6). Barris scored on runs of 5, 2, 36 and 35 yards. Caleb Cole added 81 rushing yards for Reardan and Dustyn Rettkowski returned an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Colfax 36, Kettle Falls 0: Keith Gfeller ran for 148 yards and two scores and passes for 104 yards and another score as Colfax (4-2, 4-1) blanked visiting Kettle Falls (1-5, 0-5). Colfax limited Kettle Falls to 24 yards of total offense.

Northwest Christian 64, Wilbur-Creston 8: David Olds threw for 170 yards and four touchdowns and the Crusaders (4-2, 4-1) overwhelmed the Wildcats (1-5, 1-5) in Wilbur. Northwest Christian’s Ethan Pereiah added 125 rushing yards and two scores. The Crusaders opened up a 24-0 first-quarter lead.

Northeast 1B North

Republic 82, Northport 22: The Tigers (5-1, 3-0) scored 54 first-quarter points in an easy win over the visiting Mustangs (0-6, 0-2). Aaron Fritts accounted for seven of Republic’s touchdowns. He had three rushing scores, threw for two and returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns. Jasha Connor, Trevor Remien and Liam Bracken also scored rushing touchdowns for the Tigers.

Northeast 1B South

Pateros (1-4, 0-1) forfeited its home game against Almira/Coulee-Hartline (5-1, 2-0) because the Billygoats didn’t have enough healthy players.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 70, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse 6: Cameron Springstead, Ian Neibergs and Wyatt Griner ran for two scores apiece and the Vikings (3-2, 2-1) routed the Eagles (0-6, 0-3) in Garfield. Garfield-Palouse quarterback Evan Weagraff also scored twice on the ground and threw for a touchdown.

Nonleague

Inchelium 60, Columbia 6: Jaden Erickson threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as the Hornets (3-3) overwhelmed the Lions (0-5) in Hunters. Winston Finley scored three times for Inchelium – twice on the ground and the final on a 25-yard reception to cap the scoring in the fourth quarter.
