Men’s soccer roundup: Pirates blank Missionaries

Karl Muelheims scored his Northwest Conference-leading ninth goal of the season in the 10th minute and Rylan Berriman added a second-half goal as Whitworth blanked Whitman 2-0 in Spokane.

It was the Pirates’ eighth shutout of the season.

Muelheims fought past a slew of defenders and scored from 5 yards out. Whitworth held a 16-9 shot advantage.

The Missionaries fell to 1-8-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the NWC.

Whitworth (10-0-1, 6-0-1) hosts George Fox next Saturday.

Rocha guides Sasquatch past Cardinals

Breno Rocha scored two first-half goals and Community Colleges of Spokane blanked North Idaho 3-0 in a Northwest Athletic Conference match in Coeur d’Alene.

Eric Sanchez-Flores added a 78th-minute goal for the Sasquatch (7-4-2, 5-3-1), who take on Walla Walla Wednesday at Spokane Falls Community College.

North Idaho (5-6-2, 3-4-2) hosts Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.
