Pac-12: No. 5 Utah holds off No. 23 California

Devontae Booker ran for a season-high 222 yards and two touchdowns and No. 5 Utah forced six turnovers in a 30-24 victory over No. 23 California on Saturday night in Salt Lake City.

The Utes (5-0, 2-0 Pac-12) are the lone undefeated team remaining in the Pac-12.

Cal’s Jared Goff threw a career-high five interceptions, and had 340 yards and two touchdowns. The Heisman contender couldn’t overcome the ball-control issues that put the Golden Bears (5-1, 2-1) in a hole.

The Utes entered the game with seven interceptions and Marcus Williams, Justin Thomas, Gionni Paul and Dominique Hatfield all picked off passes in the first half. Hatfield had another interception in the fourth quarter.

Utah quarterback Travis Wilson couldn’t recapture the magic that led to a 42-point victory at Oregon two weeks ago. He finished with 170 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Arizona 44, Oregon State 7: Anu Solomon returned from a one-game absence and re-ignited the Arizona offense in the Wildcats’ rout of the Beavers at Tucson, Arizona.

The redshirt sophomore and second-year starter, who sat out last week’s 55-17 loss at Stanford because of a concussion, completed 17 of 30 passes for 276 yards, before sitting out the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats (4-2, 1-2 Pac-12) amassed 645 yards to 249 for the Beavers (2-3, 0-2).

Arizona State got a couple of fortunate bounces, including on its first drive of the game. Demario Richard swerved in and out of tacklers on a short run and fumbled forward where tight end Kody Kohl scooped it up and ran into the end zone.

The next break came early in the third quarter on White’s TD catch of CU cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon’s deflection, giving the Sun Devils a 31-10 lead. White finished with seven grabs for 144 yards, both career highs.

ASU defensive end Antonio Longino had eight total tackles and 2 1/2 sacks, including one in the third quarter where he forced a fumble that led to a Sun Devils field goal.

Sefo Liufau had 389 yards passing, with a 68-yard touchdown pass to Devin Ross in the third quarter and an interception thrown early in the first. Kareem Orr stepped in front of Liufau’s floater and returned it 30 yards to the Colorado 15. That set up Bercovici’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Kohl with 8:33 left, giving ASU a 14-0 lead.

Arizona State 48, Colorado 23: Mike Bercovici threw five touchdown passes, tying a career high, and Tim White caught two scores to lead the Sun Devils (4-2, 2-1) over the Buffaloes (3-3, 0-2) in Tempe, Arizona.
