Women’s soccer roundup: Thompson’s hat trick sends Lewis & Clark past Whitworth

Emily Thompson had a first-half hat trick and Lewis & Clark blanked Whitworth 4-0 in a Northwest Conference match in Portland, Oregon.

Thompson scored in the 22nd, 25th and 33rd minutes. Taylor Hudson added a second-half goal for the Pioneers (7-4, 3-4).

The loss was the Pirates’ fourth straight. Whitworth (5-7, 3-5) plays Whitman in Walla Walla on Wednesday.

Overland notches hat trick, sends CCS past North Idaho

Alysha Overland’s 87th-minute goal gave Community Colleges of Spokane a 4-3 comeback-victory over North Idaho in a Northwest Athletic Conference match in Coeur d’Alene.

The goal was Overland’s third of the match. The Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead after goals by Katelyn Sly and Jasmine Smith, but Overland scored in the 33rd and 54th minutes to tie it up.

North Idaho’s Bailey Burgin scored in the 68th minute and CCS’ Cali Moscrip scored 2 minutes later before Overland’s match-winner.

The Sasquatch (10-0-1, 7-0) play next Saturday in Pasco against Columbia Basin.

North Idaho (5-4-2, 3-2-1) hosts Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.
