Prep volleyball: Mead sweeps Gonzaga Prep to remain in second place

Kimberly Wong finished with 10 kills and five blocks as visiting Mead (5-1) swept Gonzaga Prep 25-13, 25-23, 25-19 in a key Greater Spokane League match on Tuesday.

Payton Douglass added 16 digs and Sarah Absalonson 18 assists for the Panthers, who remained one match behind first-place Central Valley.

Emily Zink had 20 assists and Sophie West a match-high 14 kills for the Bullpups (4-2).

Also in the league, Taryn Ungaro had 17 digs and three aces and Jade Rockwood added 18 assists as Central Valley (6-0) swept host Rogers. Sydney Johnson added nine kills for the first-place Bears, who won each game by four points or less. Akon Aleu had eight kills and two blocks for the Pirates (0-6). … Rachael Schlect totaled 18 kills, three aces and three blocks as University (5-1) remained tied for second place with a 3-1 victory at Shadle Park (2-4). Kendall Collins added 37 assists and Sonja Bertrand had 19 digs for the Titans. Josie Walser had nine kills and 18 assists for the Highlanders. … Kelly Brown finished with 35 assists and 13 digs to guide Mt. Spokane (3-3) to a 3-1 victory at Lewis and Clark (3-3). Miahna Waters added 20 kills for the Wildcats. Mary Stoa had 13 assists and five digs for the Tigers. … Shaelyn Pearson finished with 23 assists, 12 digs and three aces as Ferris (1-5) posted a Greater Spokane League sweep at North Central (1-5). Annika Briggs added 12 kills and two blocks for the Saxons. Kelli Orr had 21 assists and Megan Dean added 10 kills and two aces for NC.

Great Northern League

Hailey Ghigleri compiled 40 assists and four aces as Pullman (6-2) took over first place with a 3-1 victory at Cheney (6-3). Melissa Langerveld added 16 kills, 18 digs and four aces for Pullman. Peyton Stark had 20 assists and three aces and Ally Jones added 23 digs for Cheney.

Also in the league, Brooklynn Juris finished with17 digs and seven aces as East Valley (4-4) posted a 3-1 win over visiting Clarkston (3-5). Megan Duff added 18 assists for EV.

Intermountain League

Kenzie Dean had a match-high 10 kills and Matraca Rocheleau added 24 assists and three aces as host Timberlake (6-0) registered a sweep over Priest River at Spirit Lake. Olivia Witter had 18 assists for the Spartans (0-5).
