College soccer: Whitworth women finish in scoreless tie at Whitman
Andrea Stump made nine saves Wednesday to help Whitworth hold on for a scoreless double-overtime tie against host Whitman in Northwest Conference women’s soccer at Walla Walla.
The Pirates (5-7-1, 3-5-1) had only five shots on goal against Haley Case of the Missionaries (1-8-4, 1-4-4).
Alissa Jolliff scored late in the first half and Jessica Scott added insurance at 80 minutes as host North Idaho (6-4-2, 4-2-1 Northwest Athletic Conference) recorded a 3-1 win over Wenatchee Valley (1-8-2, 0-7-2).
The Knights also gave up an own goal at 68 minutes to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.
Men
Roberto Esquivel scored at 57 minutes and East Division-leading CC Spokane (7-4-3, 5-3-2, 17 points) forged a 2-all tie with second-place Walla Walla (6-2-6, 4-2-4) at Spokane Falls CC.
Brenden Kenley scored at 7 minutes for the Knights, but CCS’ Breno Rocha tied the match 15 minutes later.
Mitchell Markovetz made nine saves to preserve host North Idaho’s scoreless tie with Wenatchee Valley (4-5-3, 2-5-3 NWAC).
The Cardinals are 5-6-3, 3-4-3.
