Men’s soccer: Muelheims has first-half hat trick in Pirates’ 6-0 win over George Fox

Karl Muelheims recorded his second hat trick of the season and the fourth-ranked Whitworth men’s soccer team blanked George Fox 6-0 in a Northwest Conference match Saturday in Spokane.

All three of Muelheims goals came during an 11-minute span just before halftime. He leads the NWC with 12 goals.

Eric Espinoza, Tanner Stepp and Johnny Thayer added second-half goals for the Pirates, who secured their seventh shutout in their last eight matches. George Fox fell to 6-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in conference matches.

Whitworth (11-0-1, 7-0-1) hosts NWC foe Pacific on Sunday.

Rocha lifts CCS past Columbia Basin

Breno Rocha’s 34th-minute goal, assisted by Kazuki Tateishi, was the difference in Community Colleges of Spokane’s 1-0 win over Columbia Basin (6-7-1, 5-6) in a Northwest Athletic Conference match in Pasco.

The Sasquatch (8-4-3, 6-3-2) play Wenatchee Valley at Spokane Falls Community College on Wednesday.

Cardinals, Chukars play to scoreless draw

North Idaho and Treasure Valley (7-6-3, 4-4-3) played to a scoreless draw in an NWAC match in Coeur d’Alene.

Cardinals’ goalkeeper Mitchell Markovetz and Chukars’ goalkeeper Mauricio Huerta each made four saves.

NIC (5-6-4, 3-4-4) plays Columbia Basin in Pasco on Wednesday.
