Prep roundup: Coeur d’Alene sweeps Post Falls in regional volleyball match

Ali Williams had 24 assists and seven aces and Missy Huddleston added 10 kills, 21 digs and four aces as Coeur d’Alene swept Post Falls 25-17, 25-16, 25-5 in a 5A Region I match Saturday in Coeur d’Alene.

The Vikings will play Lake City on Tuesday. The Timberwolves beat Lewiston 25-21, 25-20, 25-22 in the other regional match.

Post Falls and Lewiston will meet Tuesday in a loser-out match.

Girls soccer

Middleton beat Lakeland 3-1 in a 4A state play-in match in Lewiston. The Hawks were eliminated.

Coeur d’Alene Charter 3, Payette 0: Cali Shipman, Elizabeth Lehosit and Cecelia McAfee scored second-half goals and the Panthers earned a berth to the 3A state tournament with a win over the Pirates in Moscow. Coeur d’Alene Charter will play Shelley in the first round Thursday at Vallivue High School in Caldwell, Idaho.

West Valley 4, East Valley 3: Ashley Meyer notched a hat trick to lead the Eagles (9-4, 8-2) past the visiting Knights (10-3, 8-2) in a Great Northern League match.

Clarkston 2, Cheney 1 (SO): The Bantams (6-5, 5-4) outscored the Blackhawks (1-12, 0-10) 3-0 in a shootout to secure a GNL win in Cheney. Clarkston’s Leah Edens and Cheney’s Lelie Holland scored goals in regulation.

Boys soccer

Emmett blanked St. Maries 5-0 in a 3A state play-in match in Moscow. The Lumberjacks were eliminated.

Volleyball

Jordan Phelan had 24 kills and four blocks and Brooklyn Juris added 28 digs as East Valley (5-5) topped host West Valley (1-8) in a GNL match. Scores were 25-10, 25-11, 19-25, 21-25 and 15-12. Taija Williams and Jordyn Rauer had 11 kills apiece for West Valley.
