Darigold gives Spokane first taste of new cheese

Spokane is one of three markets selected to taste-test a new line of Darigold cheese.

The dairy farmers cooperative is hosting a tasting at River Park Square from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The All White Natural Cheddar Cheese line features medium and sharp cheeses as well as a Mexican blend. After more than two years in recipe development, the cheeses are being offered in loaf, sliced, shredded and wedge forms.

Founded in 1918, Darigold is one of America’s largest farmer-owned dairy co-ops. It represents nearly 500 family farms throughout the Pacific Northwest and produces milk, butter, sour cream, cottage cheese, whipping cream, half & half, lactose-free milk and a protein recovery shake called RE-fuel.
