Idaho state soccer tourneys begin Thursday

The defending Idaho 3A state champion girls soccer team and state runner-up return to state Thursday.

The way that seeding worked this fall, though, defending champ Coeur d’Alene Charter and runner-up Timberlake can’t face each other in the state final. They’re on the same side of the bracket.

Coeur d’Alene Charter (13-5-1) and Timberlake (16-0-1) could meet in the semifinals.

Timberlake earned its state berth by beating CdA Charter in the district championship match. CdA Charter defeated Payette 3-0 last Saturday in a play-in match.

The State 3A tourney is at Brothers Park in Caldwell. CdA Charter meets Shelley and Timberlake takes on Community School in openers.

In the 3A boys tourney also in Caldwell, Bonners Ferry opens against Community School.

The 5A boys and girls tourneys, meanwhile, are being held in the Meridian area, beginning Thursday.

In 5A girls, Lake City (12-0-2) opens against Rocky Mountain at Meridian while Coeur d’Alene (9-4-1) takes on defending champion Centennial (11-3-1) at Rocky Mountain.

In 5A boys, Lake City (12-0-2) meets Boise at Rocky Mountain.

The 4A boys and girls tourneys are being held at Brothers Park in Caldwell.

In the girls, defending champion Sandpoint (7-5-3) takes on Century. In the boys, Lakeland (12-2-2) goes against Blackfoot (9-4-3).
