Dry conditions postpone Lantern Fest in Post Falls

The Spokane Lantern Fest has been postponed because of dry conditions, promoters of the event announced Friday.

Lantern Fest – not to be confused with the Spokane Chinese Lantern Festival in downtown Spokane – involves writing a wish or a regret on a paper lantern, lighting it and sending it aloft en masse.

The event, originally scheduled for this weekend, will now take place at the Stateline Speedway in Post Falls on Nov. 14, a news release said.

A hot, dry summer and dry autumn prompted the change, the release said.

Tickets for the event will be honored on the new date, according to the event’s Facebook page. For more information, email info@thelanternfest.com or visit http://www.thelanternfest.com/location/spokane
