Obituary: Frucci, Dominic E. “Nick”

Age 73

FRUCCI, Dominic E. “Nick” January 24, 1942 - October 16, 2015 It is with saddened hearts that we say goodbye to Dominic “Nick” Frucci.

Dominic was born in Spokane, Washington to Ernest and Jane “Betty” Frucci on January 24, 1942 and lived a very full life.

Dominic graduated from North Central High School in 1960, and with honors from Washington State University in 1964 where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.

He earned his Master of Education Degree in Counseling and Guidance, graduating with honors from Eastern Washington State College (EWU) in 1969.

Dominic touched the lives of many with his social and teaching skills as his career path took him to Sacajawea Junior High / Middle School where he gave 44 years of devotion before retiring in 2008.

Dominic played a key role in Sacajawea Junior High being selected as one of the top secondary schools in the United States by the US Office of Education in 1983.

He was very active with the Spokane Education Association, and gave many years of dedicated service as a member on the Board of Directors for Morning Star Boys Ranch.

A natural servant leader, Dominic was a coach, mentor, teacher and friend to countless people.

Life with Dominic was never boring as he was so outgoing and always seemed to be on the go.

He loved to travel.

He would chaperone students as they travelled to Washington DC, Europe and Italy.

He would also accompany his (late) sister and (late) brother-in-law and their children on many family trips including Canada, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Soap Lake, WA, Minnesota and the East Coast.

He also loved sports.

He was an avid hockey fan (a season ticket holder for the Spokane Chiefs), went to Seattle for a couple of Mariners games, and every Sunday during football season the game(s) would be on.

Dominic was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest C. Frucci, Jane L. “Betty” (Bender) Frucci and his sisters, Patricia (Frucci) Danis and Carol A. Frucci.

He is survived by two nieces and a nephew, Cynthia (Danis) Clark, Brenda (Danis) Robbins and Brian Danis, two grandnieces, Nicole Robbins and Rachel Robbins and many cousins.

A memorial service for Dominic will be held on Wednesday, October 28th at 1:30 PM.

The service will take place at St. John Vianney Church, 503 North Walnut Road, Spokane Valley, WA.

A reception will be held at the church following the service.

Graveside burial service will be on Thursday, October 29th, 9 AM at Fairmount Memorial Park.
