Man found in the Spokane River Tuesday identified

The man found dead in the Spokane River near Trent Avenue and Hamilton Street Tuesday has been identified as 67-year-old John R. Starr.

There was no apparent trauma to Starr’s body, said Spokane Police Department spokeswoman Officer Teresa Fuller. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s office has been unable to locate any of Starr’s family members to notify them of his death. Anyone with information about his next of kin is asked to call (509) 477-2296.
