Driver in crash that critically injured Vanpool passenger to face vehicular assault charge, police say

A woman injured when a car smashed into an STA Vanpool van in downtown Spokane Thursday night remained in critical condition Friday. Witnesses told police that a Subaru ran multiple red lights before hitting the van and another car at Third Avenue and Browne Street. The driver of the Subaru was seriously injured. Spokane Police spokeswoman Teresa Fuller said the man will be arrested on a vehicular assault charge and for an unrelated felony warrant once he is released from the hospital. Fuller said there are indications the man was under the influence at the time of the crash. His identity will not be released until he has been arrested.
