Indians get just three hits in loss to Tri-City

The Spokane Indians managed just three hits and fell to the Tri-City Dust Devils 8-0 in the opener of a season-ending three-game set Friday night at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.

A trio of Tri-City pitchers shut down Spokane. Adrian De Horta started and went five innings, giving up two hits while striking out six. Nathan Foriest and Phil Maton threw two innings apiece to complete the shutout.

Diego Cedeno had two singles to lead the Indians. Spokane starter Nick Green fell to 0-3 after giving up five earned runs in three innings.

The Dust Devils gained the upper hand with two first-inning runs. Peter Van Gansen’s RBI double and Ty France’s sacrifice groundout gave Tri-City all the runs it would need.

France added a two-run double in the third.

Spokane’s slim playoff hopes were squashed with Wednesday’s 8-5 loss to Everett. The Indians offense has withered since then. They managed just two hits in a 4-1 loss to Everett on Thursday.

Spokane fell to 15-21 in the second half. Tri-City, two games back of first-place Everett, improved to 18-18.

The Indians, 34-40 for the season, have two remaining games – today and Sunday at Tri-City.
