Dust Devils’ three-run fourth inning sinks Spokane Indians

PASCO – Angel Mejia pitched six solid innings and Justin Pacchioli highlighted a three-run fourth with a two-run single Saturday as the Tri-City Dust Devils romped past the Spokane Indians 8-2 at Gesa Stadium.

Mejia (6-3) allowed six hits and one earned run, striking out seven and walking one. Elvin Liriano and Wilson Santos followed and combined on three innings of one-hit shutout ball.

The Indians led 2-1 in the fourth after Diego Cedeno doubled with one out and scored on Mejia’s wild pitch.

Tri-City roared right back against Dan Scheibe (0-2). After Kodie Tidwell’s one-out RBI single tied the game, Pacchioli singled to left for a 4-2 lead.

Spokane (15-22 second half) will close out its Northwest League season tonight. After the game, Tri-City will travel to Everett to open the best-of-3 North divisional playoffs.

• Center fielder LeDarious Clark was Spokane’s lone representative to the NWL’s year-end all-star team, announced Saturday. Everett’s Drew Jackson (.362, 47 stolen bases) was named most valuable player while Hillsboro’s Carlos Hernandez (93 strikeouts, 2.32 ERA) was pitcher of the year.
