The Dirt: Natural Grocers to open Division Street outlet

Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, a Colorado-based chain of health food stores, will open an outlet in Spokane near Division Street and Wellesley Avenue.

The company submitted plans to the city of Spokane that call for a 16,000-square-foot store at 4511 N. Division St., adjacent to an Office Depot retail space. Baker Construction of Spokane Valley is building the addition’s shell, but a separate contractor will do interior tenant upgrades, city records say.

The store will employ 25 people and is the company’s second store in Washington, with the first outlet being in Vancouver. A Coeur d’Alene Natural Grocers recently opened at 222 W. Neider Ave.

Natural Grocers, which has 100 stores in 17 states, sells natural and organic groceries, body care products and supplements. It also provides nutritional health coaching, with meal planning and cooking demonstrations.

Fat Daddio’s expands

Fat Daddio’s, a Spokane-based maker of anodized aluminum bakeware, has leased 3,200 square feet of additional space in the Schade Towers, 528 E. Spokane Falls Blvd. Because of growth, the company needed more office space, so it’s expanding into an adjacent tenant area.

The family-operated business has designed and manufactured cooking products for more than 45 years. Its bakeware is used by commercial bakeries and chefs. Fat Daddio’s also makes private-label bakeware for many leading brands and distributors, the company says.

Jim Orcutt and Jeff McGougan, both of Black Commercial, were agents involved in the transaction.

JJ’s Warehouse to move

JJ’s Warehouse Treasures is moving this fall to a new building at 12703 W. 14th Ave. in Airway Heights, where it has leased 9,100 square feet of industrial space.

The business needs to expand and will vacate its current store, at 1100 S. Garfield Road, to relocate to the larger quarters. It sells furniture, home goods, antiques, collectibles, toys and holiday decorations.

Drew Ulrick and Brian Anderson of Black Commercial handled the transaction.

Christians lease site

Gene and Lisa Christian, who provide behavioral health therapy services, have leased just over 900 square feet in the Northtown Office Building, at 4407 N. Division St., to open in a new office this fall.

Marc Mowrer of Kiemle & Hagood handled the transaction.
