Still out of touch

Regarding Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ recent constituent letter: It’s a shallow attempt to cover up her lack of concern and action in our devastating forest and wildfire emergency. She is a little late with her Washington state fire response. In her typical, patronizing “inside-the-Beltway” fashion and her absence from her own 5th Congressional District, the local population was on its own to support the firefighting effort. How does that saying go? “A day late and a dollar short.”

She might want to thank the Joe Pakootas campaign’s spontaneous and heartfelt galvanizing effort to immediately assist firefighters with in-kind and cash contributions. And in doing so coordinating down at the grass-roots level; making sure what actually was needed got collected and quickly delivered. No national out-of-touch, too-late congressional response, which rarely addresses actual needs.

Hasn’t she figured that out yet after all her years as our representative? Where has she been the last five weeks? Washington, D.C.? La Jolla, California? Guess she is too busy getting ready to shut down the federal government again. Won’t that even further delay her noblesse-oblige assistance to our valiant firefighters? A sad state of affairs.
