In Brief: City changing the way it sends utility bills

SPOKANE – The city is changing the way it’s sending out utility bills this fall. Bills will be addressed to the owner or manager of a property, instead of to tenants or “current occupant.”

The city is asking customers to provide basic information – the name of the property owner, the address of the property, a mailing address if it’s different from the property address, a phone number and a valid email address.

Change forms will arrive in the utility bill or may be picked up at City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

By the end of the year, any account that has not been updated will be changed to reflect information available via property tax records.

The information may be submitted online at www.myspokanecity.org – click on public works and then utility billing or call (509) 625-6000 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Library offers new database

SPOKANE COUNTY – The Spokane County Library District is offering a new online resource that makes it easy to access data and facts at a glance.

Called Statista, the program gives users access to statistics and studies relating to more than 80,000 topics, collected from more than 18,000 international sources, said Carlie Hoffman, library services manager.

Statista allows users to do one search, view the statistics as a graph and download the information.

This new research tool must be accessed from a library computer.
