When to enforce laws?

Regarding John Miller’s letter (“Why Davis was jailed,” Sept. 12):

I appreciate his explanation of why Kim Davis was jailed for not following the laws of the land. He is correct that elected officials swear oaths to uphold the laws.

Perhaps he could be so kind as to explain why it is right to jail her when we have numerous cities, counties, etc., wherein the mayor, city council, police chief/sheriff have not been jailed because they do not enforce our federal immigration laws? Some have labeled themselves “sanctuaries.”

Or, an elected administration that fails to enforce immigration laws, or enforces Obamacare by issuing royal edicts?

I know that doesn’t fit the hypocrisy of the progressive agenda, but the law is the law. Maybe these entities should move to a banana republic, where they can write their ukases to their hearts content.
