Why the pious grandstanding?

In providing care to people over the years as a nurse, I did not selectively provide service. Care was given regardless of if a person’s lifestyle, belief system, race, culture or political orientation was different from mine. My beliefs and spirituality is a personal thing, as it should be for all.

Why do some people consider themselves “holier than God” and have the need to grandstand and play the martyr role? Why do they canvass communities door to door ramming their belief system down others’ throats to make a quota?

In my opinion, I see such people as religious predators who prey on those who are vulnerable. I am sickened by the term “religious freedom” and seeing it used to selectively exclude members of the human race.

Kim Davis, who has been divorced several times, would be considered an adulterous woman in some belief systems. The “religious freedom” of those belief systems could excommunicate her or even stone her to death.

A suggestion for gay couples unable to order flowers from persons chanting “religious freedom”: have a “straight” person order the flowers and then send a “heartfelt thank you” to the florist for the beautiful wedding flowers after the wedding.

Amen.
