Big business eroding rights

The article “California tempers bill to reduce petroleum use” about the oil companies squelching California’s attempt to lessen their use of oil is a good example of the abuse of power by large companies.

The water-powered car idea was similarly squelched by big oil. I’m surprised they didn’t go after Tesla. Our capitalistic society rewards money-making industry and deprives the government of the power to help people and the environment.

The health care insurance industry deprives people of a health care system that helps everybody – the single-payer plan. Anything that reduces profits for the oil companies and the health insurance companies is attacked by them because they can. They have more resources than we the government do.

Our collective consciousness needs to be raised to fight the big business takeover of our individual rights. Campaign donations by big business should be made illegal.
