Murray inducted into caddie hall

It’s been a big week for actor Bill Murray.

Murray, who was raised in Wilmette, Illinois, and turns 65 on Monday, was inducted into The Caddie Hall of Fame on Wednesday night in Lake Forest, Illinois, with his five brothers. Also this week, a book was released about his quirks and how they have affected his movie roles.

Before his induction Wednesday, Murray played a round of golf at Conway Farms wearing argyle Cubs shorts. He signed autographs and took pictures with those in attendance.

The “Caddyshack” star and his brothers worked as caddies at the Indian Hill Club in Winnetka.

Murray’s rock ’n’ roll comedy “Rock the Kasbah” is slated to hit theaters Oct. 23.

Daltrey illness forces delay of Who tour

North American fans of The Who are going to have to wait to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary.

The band announced Friday that it was postponing all 50 dates of “The Who Hits 50!” tour this fall because lead singer Roger Daltrey has contracted viral meningitis. He’s feeling better, but says he’s under doctors’ orders to rest.

Earlier, the band had postponed the first four gigs of the tour that was to begin this week, hoping the 71-year-old Daltrey would be well enough to continue. But when meningitis was diagnosed, the tour was shut down.

Guitarist Pete Townshend said the band is rescheduling the tour for next spring.

Megan Fox to be ‘New Girl’ on show

Megan Fox will guest star in a recurring role next season on “New Girl.”

The actress will play a gorgeous pharmaceutical sales rep who shakes things up in the loft by renting out the room of Jess (series star Zooey Deschanel) while she is sequestered on jury duty. Fox will make her first appearance in the sixth episode of the upcoming fifth season, scheduled to premiere in January on the Fox network.

“New Girl” also stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone.
