Prep roundup: CV storm back against Mead in GSL volleyball opener

Sydney Johnson had 16 kills, Jade Rockwood tallied 45 assists, Meghan Rockwood notched 24 digs and Hannah Reiman had nine blocks as the Central Valley Bears rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the visiting Mead Panthers 3-2 in a Greater Spokane League-opening volleyball showdown on Tuesday.

Match scores for CV were 12-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 15-12.

Elsewhere in GSL play, Hannah Hendrickson had 11 assists and seven digs to propel the Lewis and Clark Tigers to a 25-23, 25-3, 25-14 win over the visiting North Central Indians. … Maria Adams totaled a match-high 30 kills and Jojo SanNicholas added 16 digs and three aces to power the visiting Gonzaga Prep Bullpups to a come-from-behind 21-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-8 win over the Shadle Park Highlanders. Shadle’s Josie Walser finished with 39 assists, 13 digs and an ace. … Rachael Schlect totaled 13 kills and eight digs and Kendall Collins handed out 30 assists to lead the visiting University Titans to a 25-21, 25-21, 25-18 sweep over the Rogers Pirates. Akon Aleu led Rogers with eight kills and a block. … Miahna Waters had 12 kills and Adrienne Dotson notched six aces as the Mt. Spokane Wildcats breezed to a 25-11, 25-23, 25-14 sweep over the visiting Ferris Saxons. Summer Reid topped Ferris with 10 kills.

• Melissa Langerveld piled up nine kills and 14 digs and the Pullman Greyhounds rolled to a 25-16, 25-15, 25-22 sweep over the visiting Clarkston Bantams in Great Northern League play.

Elsewhere in the GNL, Taylor Gould had 14 kills and 14 digs and Peyton Stark added 35 assists and five aces to power the Cheney Blackhawks to a 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-16 win over the host West Valley Eagles.

• Jasmine James had 12 kills and 19 digs and Kadi Dateman finished with 15 assists to propel the Bonners Ferry Badgers to a 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16 win over the visiting Kellogg Wildcats in Intermountain League action.

Girls soccer

Taylor Vogle scored a first-half goal and Makinzie Packwood and Taylen Wohl found the net in the second half to power the visiting Clarkston Bantams to a 3-0 victory over the Pullman Greyhounds in GNL play. Bantams keeper Katelyn Bittle turned back six shots on goal en route to the shutout.

Elsewhere in the GNL, Ashley Meyer scored two goals and added an assist – all in the first half – and the West Valley Eagles breezed to a 5-1 victory over the visiting Cheney Blackhawks. Kaitlyn Hossfeld added two assists for West Valley.
