NWPrepsNow Pick 6 for week 5

Intro By Greg Lee The Spokesman-Review

All the fun was sucked out of Pick 6 last week simply because Sam Adams and I had no differences.

We went 5-1. I’ve gone 5-1 each week.

For a second week in a row we don’t have any differences. Through three weeks, the Scribe is 15-3 and the Talking Head is 11-7.

All games on Friday unless noted.

Gonzaga Prep vs. Mt. Spokane

at Albi, today, 7:15 p.m.

Lee: Congrats to the Wildcats for their 3-0 start, they are much better than I anticipated. But G-Prep is simply better. G-Prep 30-7.

Adams: As long as quarterback Liam Bell is on the field, I don’t see anyone beating G-Prep in the regular season. G-Prep 28-21.

Colfax vs. Northwest Christian

at Roos Field, 6 p.m.

Lee: Northwest Christian is probably the second-best team in the Northeast 2B behind powerhouse Lind-Ritzville/Sprague. Colfax coach Mike Morgan has been around the block a while and he’ll come up with a plan. But this is a breakout year for the Crusaders. Northwest Christian 32-13.

Adams: Year No. 3 for football at NWC and the Crusaders are looking like South Florida when it started up its program in NCAA Division I. Northwest Christian 35-21.

Moscow at West Valley, 7 p.m.

Lee: WV’s speed and being at home will be the difference. Also, the Bears are 0-2 against GNL teams. West Valley 31-19.

Adams: The Bears put up 40 points last week and they still lost to Pullman. This game will be decided on defense, and the Eagles have it. West Valley 20-19.

Sandpoint at East Valley, 7 p.m.

Lee: Sandpoint has had a difficult schedule and struggled with injuries, but the Bulldogs should get healthy, at least mentally, Friday. Sandpoint 38-13.

Adams: The Knights are coming off their first loss. Sandpoint is looking to shore up a defense that’s surrendered 120 points in three losses. Friday’s game should be the trick for the Bulldogs. Sandpoint 29-14.

Ferris vs. Lewis and Clark

at Albi, 7:30 p.m.

Lee: The Saxons have yet to score. And you know the Saxons’ South Hill rival, LC, doesn’t want to be the first team to surrender points. LC 20-0.

Adams: A South Hill showdown is just what the Tigers need to get back on track after consecutive losses to Moses Lake and Central Valley. Good news, bad news for the Saxons: Ferris will score its first points after getting shut out 130-0 in a 0-3 start, but LC will prevail. LC 35-6.

Coeur d’Alene at Highland, 7:45 p.m.

Lee: This has become a fun, respectful rivalry the last five years. Location is the key for me here. Highland is difficult to beat at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena. Highland 27-21.

Adams: The Vikings are rolling just in time for a mammoth matchup in Pocatello with Highland. I’m not sure the Vikings have come far enough to topple the defending state champs on their home field. Highland 27-21.
