Valley council awards money to outside agencies
The Spokane Valley City Council approved allocations for outside agencies Tuesday.
Four economic development organizations and 13 social services agencies requested $341,620 – but there was only $107,000 available for distribution, as $43,000 had already been award to Greater Spokane Incorporated.
The following organizations received funding:
• Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, $26,704;
• Spokane Valley Arts Council, $18,953;
• Spokane Valley Heritage Museum, $1,571;
• Valleyfest, $13,000;
• Greater Spokane County Meals on Wheels, $7,429;
• Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council, $5,429;
• Hearth Homes, $12,057;
• Spokane Valley Partners, $19,286;
• YWCA, $2,571.
Original funding requests ranged from Spokane Valley Rotary Club asking for $1,071 for lights and decorations for its annual celebration of light festival and tree lighting ceremony, to Valleyfest’s request for $50,000 for regional marketing and promotions.
