“The Daily Show With Trevor Noah”: Late-night television’s dramatic makeover continues as Noah, a relatively unknown comedian from South Africa, slips into the fake-news anchor chair. He takes over for Jon Stewart, a beloved icon who held the job for 16 years – not that there’s a lot of pressure on him or anything. 11 p.m. Monday, Comedy Central.

SUNDAY: Say it isn’t so! As “The Simpsons” kick off a new season, Homer and Marge agree to a trial separation, and the big d’oh-boy falls for a young 20-something (Lena Dunham). 8 p.m., Fox.

SUNDAY: After 15 seasons and more than 300 episodes, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” calls it quits with a two-hour finale. Original cast members Grissom (William Petersen) and Willows (Marg Helgenberger) return to help solve the last case. 9 p.m., CBS.

SUNDAY: “Indian Summers,” the latest offering under the “Masterpiece” banner, is a sprawling, handsomely crafted drama about the decline of the British Empire and birth of modern India. Henry Lloyd-Hughes leads a multicultural cast. 8 p.m., KSPS; 9 p.m., KCDT.

MONDAY: In her insightful new documentary “San Francisco 2.0,” Alexandra Pelosi returns to her hometown to examine how the “digital gold rush” is changing a city traditionally know for its countercultural ways. What she finds isn’t very pretty. 9 p.m., HBO.

TUESDAY: John Stamos returns to prime time in the new sitcom “Grandfathered.” He plays a swinging single who is stunned to learn that he has a kid who has a kid. Talk about a full house. 8 p.m., Fox.

TUESDAY: “The Grinder” could turn out to be the fall’s funniest comedy. Rob Lowe plays a big-shot actor who, after his TV legal series is canceled, returns home to work in his brother’s (Fred Savage) law firm, despite having no real experience as an attorney. Amusing mayhem ensues. 8:30 p.m., Fox.

WEDNESDAY: Aisha Tyler joins “Criminal Minds” in a recurring role as the drama series opens its 11th season. She plays Dr. Tara Lewis, a forensic psychologist who is an expert on serial killers. 9 p.m., CBS.

WEDNESDAY: On “Empire,” Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) tries to start her own record label from scratch. Of course, she runs into some trouble. Hip-hop and R&B legends Ludacris and Kelly Rowland guest star. 9 p.m., Fox.

THURSDAY: The stakes are even higher as “The Blacklist” opens its third season. Liz (Megan Boone) and Red (James Spader) are on the run from the FBI and the Cabal after she killed the U.S. attorney general. 9 p.m., NBC.

FRIDAY: Ken Jeong (“Community”) headlines the new sitcom “Dr. Ken.” He plays a blunt physician with a horrible bedside manner. His mouth also gets him into trouble at home. 8:30 p.m., ABC.

SATURDAY: Fresh off her buzzy turn at the “MTV Video Awards,” Miley Cyrus is the first host – and musical guest – as “Saturday Night Live” kicks off its 41st season. 11:30 p.m., NBC.
