Dobrow should get college degree

“Why I don’t have my bachelors degree is I got into law enforcement at a very young age. I was 21 years old. I was the youngest guy in my academy class. I was more focused on being a cop then being a student.” - Rick Dobrow (interim police chief)

Isn’t this the Roger Bragdon shuffle from years past? Yes, it could become a familiar song and dance. Bragdon was appointed police chief with the understanding he would get his degree, but that never happened. Let’s hope Dobrow has more integrity if he has chiefly aspirations.

And, we’d do well to remember the advice of Spokane Police Detective Stacey Carr, who called Bragdon “the last of a generation” — a chief without a college degree. “He’s very bright, very well-spoken,” Carr said. “But I think it would be tough nowadays to get by without that degree.” That statement dates to December 2005, and holds true today.
