Obituary: Poppe, Rosalie “Rose”

Age 78

POPPE, Rosalie “Rose” (Age 78) Died September 16, 2015 at her home in Ocean Shores, Washington.

Rose was born in Burlington, WA on March 22, 1937 to Forrest Clifton and Elsie Mae (Duvall) Markham.

Her father worked for Bonneville Power Administration They moved around throughout her childhood, landing in Spokane where she graduated from Rogers High School in 1955.

On April 13, 1957, Rose married Clarence L. Poppe in Spokane.

He resides at the family home.

Rose’s life revolved around family.

She also volunteered countless hours to improve her community.

She was instrumental in in establishing park improvements at Garry Jr. High and served during the planning and construction of the Northeast Community Center in Spokane, which serves residents to this day.

Rose and Clarence moved to Seattle in 1989, then to Puyallup in 1990 and finally Ocean Shores in 1999.

In retirement, they traveled to every state in the Continental US, Canada and Mexico, making many friends and acquaintances along the way.

She loved creating photographs, pencil drawings, paintings, and wood carvings.

Rose is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clarence Poppe of Ocean Shores; sons: Douglas (Dorothy) Poppe of Spokane and Dale (Carol Westergreen) Poppe of Molalla, OR; daughter, Jill (Kevin) Loveall of Sammamish, WA; grandchildren: Connor and Braden Loveall; brother, George Markham of Spokane.

Rosalie was preceded in death by a son, Michael Poppe as an infant and daughter Karen Poppe also as an infant; brothers: Clifton and Jack Markham and sister, Dorothy Linehan.

There will be a celebration of Rosalie’s life on Saturday, October 3rd at 3 PM in Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.
