One killed, one injured in collision near Sandpoint

A man was killed in a head-on collision, Friday.

Daniel J. Duke, 29, was driving in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 95 when his Plymouth Voyager entered the southbound lane and hit John J. Hannigan, 72 north of Sandpoint.

Hannigan was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his Ford F250. Both men were transported by air to Kootenai Medical Center where Hannigan died. Duke was then transported from KMC to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was in serious condition.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
