Obituary: Swanstrom, Jonathan (Jock)

Jonathan

Jonathan (JOCK) Swanstrom (age 75) peacefully passed away March 30, 2016, after a long battle with multiple health issues.

Gone to be with Jesus.

He was born April 25, 1940 in Duluth, MN to Dwight and Anna Jean Swanstrom, youngest of five children.

Came to Spokane to attend Whitworth College and graduated 1962.

Married to the love of his life Eileen Durante Swanstrom for 50 years.

They have two children, Jon and Stephanie Swanstrom, two grandchildren, Nash and Jack Swanstrom and one great-grandson Silus, and treasure time spent with them all.


He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, Manager of Portland Golf Club and Overlake Country Club, VP of Rocky Mountain and Interchecks Check Printers.

He loved playing softball for 30 years, and was a big Mariners fan, loved to travel especially to Hawaii, loved to RV, especially to AZ for the winter.

He loved telling a good story or joke and making people laugh.

Also was a great collector of vintage and antique things, many sports related.


He is survived by his wife Eileen, children, grandchildren, and great- grandson, brother Bill and sister Mary, Duluth, MN.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred and Mac Swanstrom.


Memorial Service will be Tuesday, April 5th, at 2:00 at the Spokane Valley Nazarene Church on 20th and Sullivan.
